Vung Ang Port (Lao-Viet International Port), a sea port in Ha Tinh, Viet Nam, that will facilitate cargo transportation from Viet Nam to Lao PDR, Thailand's northeastern region, and Viet Nam's central provinces, received its first container ship on 10 April. The shipment was transported from Tan Cang Port in Hai Phong, Viet Nam. The Vung Ang Port can accommodate cargo ships of up to 50,000 DWT (deadweight tonnage) and container ships of up to 2,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit). The transport route via Vung Ang Port is in line with promotion of logistics services in Ha Tinh Province until 2030. In the ceremony held to mark the occasion, Mr. Nguyen Nhat, Viet Nam's Deputy Minister of Transport, noted that industry investment focusing on the Vung Ang economic zone and the sea-based economy is necessary for Ha Tinh's economic breakthrough.

The ADB-supported “Basic Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth in the North Central Provinces (NCPs) Sector Project [4]” in Viet Nam is working to rehabilitate and upgrade provincial road and district roads in Viet Nam’s four NCPs, which includes Ha Tinh, and support productive and business infrastructure, including water supply networks, sea and river protection and drainage works with association river transport infrastructure, and supporting flood and irrigation command areas.
